Silent pianos

Modern technology can bring a new dimension to the acoustic piano. Sometimes in a domestic environment there are advantages in having a silent system. The new Schimmel pianos can all be supplied with the TwinTone sound muting feature, which is installed at manufacture. For all other instruments we can install one of the two systems from PianoDisc. Both systems make the acoustic instrument completely silent at the touch of a lever without compromising the action or the pedals. Optical key and pedal sensors send signals to a control box.
We fitted the Magic Star system to our customer's new Steinway V upright pictured above - and she is exploring all the new opportunities it has presented to her!
The QuietTime GT-2 provides full recording and playback functions (up to 3,500 MIDI events), an audio-in and out socket (stereo headphones included), metronome, MIDI-IN, MIDI-OUT and MIDI-THRU and two sampled tones out. The tidy control box is mounted under the keybed to the right hand side.
The Professional QuietTime Magic Star uses a smaller, compact control box which has a graphics display feature. The recording and playback functions are increased to over 30,000 MIDI events and there is a full range of sampled tones. We would always fit the Magic Star to grand pianos.
To install either system we would arrange expert collection of your piano and the return of it within seven days. Installation is by our own PianoDisc approved technician and is fully guaranteed for 12 months; PianoDisc system and parts are guaranteed for 5-years. We can quote for fitting either system over the telephone, generally the total will be between £1100 and £2200. Full instructions and a smart set of headphones are included.
